Wigmore Primary is a large three-form entry school, situated on the eastern outskirts of Luton in the UK. While the school had just over 600 pupils, there were still 20+ places unfilled, and the concern was that the image of the school was not living up to the experience of the pupils, parents or teachers.
We were approached by the school to carry out a rebrand that projected their values and positioned the school as an attractive place for parents to choose to send their children. We needed to create a consistent brand image and message across all touchpoints from their website and social media to the school itself.

The School were keen to create pride in their badge, reflecting the high expectations they were striving to achieve, with their ultimate aim to be the school of choice for the area.
While their existing identity was fragmented and confusing, there was a shared desire by the school and governors to retain the tree symbol as a key part of the visual identity. As well as the tree being a metaphor for growth that was spoken about with the children, it also reflected the location of the school being near Wigmore Valley Park.
Working with their vision and values, we developed an identity that represented the idea of inclusion through the logo and graphic treatments as well as our messaging. We developed a tone of voice to work alongside this based on the theme of ‘Nurturing to achieve excellence’, which gave us two themes to focus on as well as an inspiring strapline/school motto.
The identity was rolled out across everything from school signage and uniforms to stationery and prospectuses.
"From ideas to an amazing final reality Bread and Butter Creative have been exceptional. Our initial identity discussion about our aims, vision, values, logo and tone got things moving in a positive way to transform our school community. They communicated well throughout the design phase and we now have a consistent, high quality, modern and cohesive brand which different stakeholders understand. The feedback we have had is overwhelmingly positive."
